The Soyuz rocket carried the GLONASS-K satellite into space.
On Monday, a Russian Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying the GLONASS-K navigation system was launched from a northern cosmodrome, according to the defence ministry and the Interfax news agency.
The agency quoted the ministry as saying, “Combat crews of the Space Forces successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle with the GLONASS-K space navigation system.”
The Soyuz rocket carrying the GLONASS-K satellite took off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, which is about 500 miles (800 km) north of Moscow.
