Request a response from the Prime Minister on the expiration of the right to cross-examine in the case of Khawaja Asif.
ISLAMABAD: In a Rs 10 billion compensation lawsuit against Khawaja Asif, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sent notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan, requesting that his right to cross-examination be terminated.
Khawaja Asif’s plea against the Sessions Court’s decision to withdraw the right of cross-examination on the Prime Minister’s remarks was heard by the High Court. The trial court was ordered by the High Court not to proceed with the hearing.
According to his counsel, the trial court judge took away Khawaja Asif’s opportunity to cross-examine Imran Khan’s statement. The lawsuit began in 2012, and the questions were posed in 2021.
“Do you claim the adjournment was done by Imran Khan?” asked Chief Justice Athar Minallah. In two months, the defamation lawsuit should have been determined.
According to Khawaja Asif’s lawyer, both parties agreed to the adjournment. The court ordered the Prime Minister to respond and delayed the case until January 12.
On the charges linked to Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched a compensation action against former Federal Minister Khawaja Asif.
