Renault and Nissan have agreed not to announce a new agreement on December 7 – JNN

Japanese TV network JNN said on Friday that automakers Renault (EPA:RENA) and Nissan (OTC:NSANY) will not make an announcement on Dec. 7 about a new deal for their restructured alliance because they are still having trouble getting along.

Both sides are talking about how to change the way they work together. Renault wants Nissan to invest in its electric vehicle (EV) business, while Nissan wants Renault to sell some of its 43 percent stake in Nissan to make the two partners more equal.

The two sides decided not to make an announcement on December 7 because, as of Friday, they had not come to an agreement on how to share intellectual property.

The report also said that there are no new plans for when to make an announcement. From the report, it wasn’t clear if JNN was citing just one source or several.

When asked for a comment, neither Renault nor Nissan replied right away.

Reuters had said before that both sides had mentioned December 7 as a possible date for announcing the new alliance structure.

The talks have gotten stuck on the question of how to share technology and intellectual property.
