Raja Pervaiz, the PPP’s leader in parliament, will take the oath of office as NA speaker.
Pervaiz Ashraf, who is from the PPP, was elected as National Assembly speaker without a fight because he was the only candidate who filed nomination papers. Ashraf will take his seat today.
It was already signed by PPP leaders Khursheed Shah and Naveed Qamar.
People in the house would hear the name of the new speaker from the person in charge. On Saturday, the new speaker will also take the oath of office.
It was empty on April 9 when PTI’s Asad Qaiser quit, saying that he couldn’t hold a vote on a no-confidence motion against then-PM Imran Khan because it was part of a “foreign conspiracy” against the PTI government. Qaiser then gave the chair to PML-Ayaz N’s Sadiq, who was in charge of the process.
People don’t believe in Qasim Suri.
The National Assembly will meet today instead of April 22. They will vote on a new speaker and move a resolution of no-confidence against the deputy speaker, which will happen today instead of April 22. Friday’s circular to hold the session on Saturday overrode an earlier circular that was sent out on April 13. It was sent out by the acting speaker, Qasim Suri, who is facing a vote of no-confidence from the treasury benches in the House, so he asked that the session be held on Saturday.
According to an April 13 letter, the NA meeting was moved to April 16 instead of April 22.
It says that, in place of the letter from the Secretariat that was sent on April 13, 2022, the next House meeting will be held on April 16, at 12 noon. The letter was signed by Muhammad Mushtaq, an assistant secretary (legal).
Rule 12 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the House, 2007 says that the motion for permission to move a resolution of no-confidence for the removal of the deputy speaker will be taken up on April 16, which is seven days after the deadline for the motion. This means that it will be taken up on the first working day after that.
It will be moved by 159 members of the House of Representatives against Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri. As part of its two-point plan, the NA Secretariat has also said that the National Assembly speaker will be elected.
Ayaz Sadiq will chair the NA meeting.
It also wants Ayaz Sadiq to chair today’s meeting, since Suri is facing a no-confidence vote and, under NA Rule 12, he can’t be in charge of the meeting.
All of the PTI members on the panel of chairmen have resigned, so the NA Secretariat asked the leader of the PML-N to be in charge of the meeting.
