Prince Charles pays tribute to Stephen Lawrence,

Heir apparent to the British throne. On the anniversary of Stephen Lawrence’s death in a racist attack in 1993, Prince Charles paid tribute to him.

The Clarence House shared a throwback photo of the Prince of Wales with Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Stephen’s mother, alongside the future king’s message.

“Today, we remember Stephen Lawrence,” it tweeted.

Earlier this month, the Prince of Wales hosted Baroness Doreen Lawrence at Dumfries House to discuss opportunities for collaboration between the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, The Prince’s Foundation, and PrincesTrust.

The Prince’s office also shared his tribute speech to Stephen from September 2000.

Prince Charles concludes his speech by stating, “Stephen Lawrence was cruelly denied the opportunity to develop his potential talents in the field of architecture.” I’m sure his parents, who did so much to support him in his ambition, will join me in hoping that the Trust established in Stephen’s memory and my Foundation can find a common interest in working together to expand opportunities for those with talent to work in architecture, and to assist those who do to find inspiration in the numerous cultural and craft traditions to which I’ve alluded. Perhaps in this manner, a fitting memorial to Stephen Lawrence can be created.”
