Petroleum levy to be increased up to Rs50 Ogra
ISLAMABAD Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Chairman Masroor Khan said on Friday that the tax on petrol must be increased to 50 rupees.
Senator Mohsin Aziz chaired an assembly in the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum. At the meeting, the chairman Ogra informed his committee members that the petroleum tax is been increased, however the GST rate for petrol and diesel is set at zero. Secretary Petroleum advised the meeting that, by April, the levy will go at a rate of 50 cents per litre instead of Rs37.42.
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) the Managing Director Imran Maniar told the committee that SSGC has a annual loss of around Rs14 billion in Balochistan and that 80 percent of the loss is because of gas theft. The committee also demanded Sui Southern authorities to provide a gas load management plans at the next meeting.
