Pakistani sources said PML-Q would stand with Prime Minister Imran Khan through thick and thin.
LAHORE: In a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, the leadership of Punjab’s second-largest political party, PML-Q, pledged their complete support to thwart the combined Opposition’s efforts to launch a no-confidence vote against the PTI-led government at the Centre and in Punjab.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a visit to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi of the PML-Q, one of his government’s most important partners.
The premier told the Chaudhrys during the meeting that he would solve all their issues in the province and at the federal level, while asking Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and federal cabinet members to take all necessary actions in this respect.
In a statement after the meeting, the PML-Q says that Prime Minister Imran Khan trusted the Chaudhry brothers during their recent talks with Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the statement, PML-Q officials warned Shahbaz that if the opposition’s effort to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan failed, their political future would “look grim.”
“What good is a trick that has no possibility of success?” As stated in the statement.
PM Imran was convinced by the leaders of the PML-Q party that efforts to pass a no-confidence motion were a “lie.”
According to sources inside the Chaudhry family, the party has chosen to stick behind Imran Khan through thick and thin. According to sources, the almost half-hour-long meeting covered critical problems including the country’s politics, economy, and price rise.
PM Imran allegedly questioned the health of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the former premier and PML-Q chairman. Prime Minister Imran remarked, “I hope to Allah for a speedy recovery of your health,” Prime Minister Imran said. Ch Shujaat Hussain expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Additionally, the two sides examined the country’s general political condition. The Chaudhrys expressed their admiration for the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia.
Prime Minister: Usman Buzdar, Hammad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry, Abdul Razak Dawood, Amir Dogar, and Abdul Razak Dawood were all with him on his trip.
PML-Q leaders were also there, including federal minister Moonis Elahi, Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi, and Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the party’s leader in the Punjab Assembly, at the meeting.
Shujaat informed the premier that although the announcement of a drop in fuel and electricity costs was commendable, he needed to give the ministries the responsibility of ensuring that the benefit reached the people. He asked the prime minister to put a lot of focus on getting the country’s inflation under control.
Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the rehabilitation programme given to industry was excellent, and similar packages should be offered for Punjab’s industrial estates. The prime minister assured him that the plan would also cover Punjab’s industry.
The meeting between Prime Minister Imran and Chaudhrys, the secretary-general of the Pakistan People’s Party and a federal minister, said that the meeting between Prime Minister Imran and Chaudhrys did not deal with a vote of no confidence.
He said that the PML-Q made no declaration expressing support for the government. He said he didn’t believe what the media said and that he didn’t know who was spreading the lies.
According to sources, the prime minister opted to meet with other government partners after his meeting with the PML-Q leadership. He would also meet with leaders of the MQMP and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) in the near future, they said.
Additionally, Prime Minister Imran stepped up his interactions with party legislators. On his trip to Lahore, he met with PTI legislators from all four divisions of Punjab, who were elected by the people who live there.
According to sources, the prime minister was in charge of taking steps to stop the opposition movement.
Separately, MNA Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dareshak paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday.
