The trade imbalance increased by 100 percent in the first half of FY22.

In the first half of FY22, Karachi’s trade deficit soared by 100 percent.
In December 2021, the trade deficit grew by 55 percent to $4.14 billion, while imports declined by $1 billion, contrary to experts’ predictions, for a trade deficit of $24 24.79 billion in the first half of fiscal year 22. At the same time last year, it was worth $12.36 billion. Imports declined to $6.69 billion in December 2021, down from $7.79 billion in November 2021. Imports were anticipated to be $6.62 billion in December 2021 in Karachi.
Imports increased by 63 percent to 24.47 billion in the first half of fiscal year 22 from 39.91 billion, while exports of Pakistani goods increased by 16.7% to 2.2.761 billion in December 2020 from 2.2.366 billion.The export goal for July to December 2021 was $15 billion, the export goal for December was $8.2 billion, and the trade deficit was $4.42 billion. From July to December 2021, the country’s exports climbed by 25% to $115.1 billion, up from $12.21 billion in the same period in 2020.
