Observer: Turkish banks should encourage sectors that promote long-term economic growth.
Mehmet Ali Akbar, who is in charge of Turkey’s banking watchdog, says that the country’s banks should focus on industries that will have a long-term effect on the economy.
During a speech at a meeting of a bankers’ group, Akben also expressed his belief that banks will enhance loan operations that are consistent with government policies designed to stabilize the lira and reduce inflation.
