NUCLEAR POWER PLANT CONNECTED TO GRID
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) on Thursday reported that it had associated the much-anticipated 1,100MW Karachi Nuclear Power Plant Unit-2 (K-2) to the public lattice.
In an explanation, the PAEC named it a ‘Pakistan Day’ blessing to the country. It said the thermal energy station (NPP) had accomplished criticality toward the finish of February and was going through certain security tests and methodology before it could at last be associated with the public network.
The stacking of atomic fuel onto the plant was begun on December 1, 2020 subsequent to getting leeway from the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
The PAEC called attention to that K-2 is the principal thermal energy station in Pakistan with an age limit of 1,100MW and its expansion to the public network will “unquestionably help improve the economy of the country”.
