New Zealand has added new sanctions against Russian banks.
Wellington, Reuters. It came up with new sanctions against Russia’s biggest banks and financial institutions on Tuesday as a response to the attack on Ukraine.
People in New Zealand are very worried about reports of violence from Russian forces. Foreign Minister Nania Mahuta said in a statement that she was very worried about them.
“New Zealand still opposes Putin’s war and supports the work of the International Criminal Court to find out what happened to the people of Ukraine.”
People who work for Russia’s central bank and its sovereign wealth fund are among the three most important government financial bodies that have been hit. She said that eight of Russia’s biggest banks and seven others with links to oligarchs were among those hit.
A “special military operation” is what Moscow is calling its actions in Ukraine now.
