NEPRA increased electricity tariffs by Rs 2.86 per unit.

ISLAMABAD: Already plagued by inflation, rising oil costs, and food prices, Pakistanis had a rude awakening on Wednesday when the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) decided to hike the electricity bill by Rs 2.86 as part of the monthly fuel adjustment.

NEPRA made the judgement after a hearing on the Central Power Purchasing Agency’s petition (CCPA).

The increase will cost electricity customers billions of rupees more.

In the last few weeks, the CPPA has asked for an electricity rate rise because of the March fuel adjustment.
