NCOC extends Covid bans as fifth wave digs in
ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has declared that existing nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) will be extended until February 15, 2022, while the fifth wave of coronavirus continues.
According to a letter published on Friday by NCOC, current NPIs that were previously implemented through January 31, 2022, have been extended until February 15, 2022.
“A new evaluation will be conducted on February 10, 2022, according to the statement.
All federating units are urged to issue notices and distribute them to all parties affected as soon as possible.

The NCOC, the government’s anti-COVID strategy’s nerve centre, has issued a warning that the Omicron version is still spreading across the country.
“Please ensure you are properly vaccinated, have gotten a booster dose (if eligible), and are adhering to SOPs like as mask-wearing and social distance.” “Take extra care of the elderly, as their admissions and death rates are higher,” the organisation stated in a statement.
According to statistics released by the NCOC on Friday, at least 8183 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the positive ratio to 11.92%, while 30 fatalities were also confirmed, bringing the death toll to 29,192.
The NCOC reported that 1,786 individuals recovered from COVID-19 over time, increasing the total number of recoveries to 1,274,657, including 1,353 in critical condition.

The pandemic has struck the Sindh province the most, with 535,965 infections, followed by the Punjab province, which has recorded 471,925 cases.
It was thought that the pandemic’s spread throughout the country was mostly halted, but since the appearance of Omicron in late December, the number of cases has been fast growing, and the fifth wave of the pandemic has been announced.
