ISLAMABAD- The Federal Minister for Finance, Miftah Ismail, said on Tuesday that Pakistan has received the draught Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies (MEFP) for the combined 7th and 8th reviews from the International Monetary Fund.
The Finance Minister made the announcement on Twitter, saying, “Early this morning, the IMF sent the Government of Pakistan a MEFP for the 7th and 8th reviews taken together.”
The draught MEFP is needed to clear the way for a staff-level agreement to be reached.
Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had already made a deal for the loan programme to start up again.
The IMF agreed with Pakistan’s budget goals and economic plans.
The agreement was made after the government took steps to meet the conditions set by the IMF for the $6-billion loan programme to start up again.
