INDIA,S BASMATI CHALLENEGED
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has chosen to document its resistance in the European Union in an answer to India’s case of Geographical Indication (GI) tag of Basmati rice.
This was chosen during a gathering led by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Razak Dawood. The gathering was gone to by Secretary Commerce, Chairman, Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan), delegates of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) and the lawful society.
An official proclamation gave after the gathering said that Reap agents were of the view that Pakistan is a significant cultivator and maker of Basmati rice and India’s case for selectiveness is uncalled-for.
Mr. Dawood completely said that Pakistan will fervently contradict India’s application in the European Union and limit India from acquiring select GI tag of Basmati rice. He further upheld the worries of Reap and significant partners and guaranteed that their case for Basmati rice as GI will be ensured.
