Increasing the speed of ground rotation can cause a decrease in leap seconds

Scientists say the Earth’s axial rotation has increased slightly over the past 50 years, reducing the length of the day.

Over billions of years, the earth has been rotating on its axis. Even tens of millions of years ago there were occasions when the earth rotated on its axis 420 times in a year ie 420 days in a year. But now we have only 365 children a year.

But the Earth’s axial rotation is a very complex matter, and experts, looking at atomic clocks, say that the axial rotation has now increased. Although we did add a leap second in 1972, the complexity is still there. On this basis, experts are saying that soon we will have to withdraw the increase of leap seconds or decrease one leap second. In this way, the duration of day and night will be reduced in a very small way.
