Imran Khan is scheduled to meet with the members of Parliament in Lahore today.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Office said Tuesday that Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet with members of the Punjab Assembly during his one-day visit to Lahore, the Prime Minister’s Office said Tuesday.
In the provincial capital, the prime minister will also address Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers.
Imran Khan will remain in office after the dissolution of the National Assembly until the nomination of a caretaker prime minister is made in accordance with Article 224 A (4) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Imran Khan said on April 4 that Gulzar Ahmed, a former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), should be interim Prime Minister of Pakistan until a new leader could be found.
According to PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, in a tweet, Imran Khan has suggested the name of retired judge Gulzar Ahmed in response to President Dr. Arif Alvi’s letter for this purpose.
A statement from the President House said on Monday that Imran Khan would be prime minister until a caretaker PM was chosen.
Dr. Arif Alvi has already endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recommendation to dissolve the National Assembly according to Article 58 (1) read with Article 48 (1) of the constitution.
