IMF officials warn that U.S. inflation has not yet “turned the corner.” -FT
Inflation in the United States hasn’t “turned the corner” yet, and it’s too soon for the Federal Reserve to declare victory in the fight against rising prices, a top IMF official said in an interview with the Financial Times on Thursday.
A deputy managing director of the fund named Gita Gopinath urged the U.S. central bank to keep raising interest rates this year.
She told the newspaper, “It’s clear that we haven’t turned the corner on inflation yet if you look at the signs in the labour market and at very sticky parts of inflation like service inflation.”
