Hafeez dropped from reconstituted NFC
ISLAMABAD: In a significant politico-legitimate retreat, the central government on Wednesday denotified the counsel to the leader on fund and income and the money secretary as individuals from the National Finance Commission (NFC) and surrendered some of its terms of reference (ToR).
The choice was taken after the administration’s May 12 notice about constitution of the 11-part NFC confronted legitimate difficulties in different high courts, alongside a not insignificant rundown of ToR conceiving new explicit duties and costs to be shared by the areas.
A new notice for the nine-part NFC and amended ToR was submitted to the Islamabad High Court based on which the court discarded a request of the restriction PML-N testing the locus standi of Adviser to the PM on Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and the account secretary as NFC individuals.
“The new warning is in accordance with the Constitution,” said fund service’s representative Mohsin Mushtaq Chandna in a concise reaction to questions. Inquired as to whether the leader holding the fund portfolio would now open the NFC exchange or Dr Shaikh would be made priest for account through Senate, Mr Chandna said he would not estimate.
