In a blog post, Google said that as part of the proposed settlement, it would put $90 million into an asset to help application engineers who made less than $2 million a year from 2016 to 2021.
“If they choose, a larger number of U.S. engineers who made money through Google Play will be able to get cash from this asset,” Google said in a blog post.
Google also stated that it would charge engineers a 15% cut of their first million dollars in Google Play Store sales each year.In 2021, it began to do this.
The settlement should be approved by the court.
Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, which spoke to the offended parties, said that about 48,000 application engineers were qualified to apply for the $90 million in assets, and the base payout is $250.
Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) and little engineers came to an agreement in class last year to let little engineers set App Store limits. It also agreed to pay an extra $100 million.
In Washington, Congress is thinking about a law that would force Google and Apple to let people download apps without using an app store. This is called “sideloading.” Google says that it already lets you do sideloading.
It would also stop them from requiring app developers to use Google and Apple’s payment systems.
