Frida Kahlo’s art will be shown on the Decentraland Metaverse for good.
Frida Kahlo, a famous Mexican painter known for her uncompromising and brightly coloured self-portraits, will get her own space in the Decentraland Metaverse.
During the third annual Metaverse Art Week on Decentraland, which took place from August 24 to 28, a permanent exhibition was opened in the digital space.
A Unique Chance to See Frida Kahlo’s Red House
The Frida Kahlo Family Red House is a permanent installation on Decentraland. It was created by the family of Frida Kahlo and Ezel Life, a company that makes immersive Web3 experiences. It is a digital copy of the “Red House” that the family owns in Mexico City.

In the real world, the so-called “Red House” is a private home that visitors cannot get into. Only the famous Blue House, where Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera lived, has been turned into a museum and is open to visitors. Every year, more than 500,000 people come to see the site.
Immersive Metaverse Experience
Through the immersive metaverse project, anyone can also go to the Red House. The digital space shows the first half of Frida’s amazing life and works of art that have never been seen before. Each room of the Red House in the Metaverse shows a little-known part of the artist’s life before she married the famous Mexican painter Diego Rivera.
To make the installation, the creative team scanned each piece of content using high-resolution image capture. For one item, you need at least 30 different photos and videos.
The people who made Ezel.Life said they had collected about 800 unique things, like sketches, original works of art, and other things that Frida Kahlo used in her daily life.
“We are excited to work with Decentraland to bring The Red House, Frida Kahlo’s family home, into the metaverse. This experience will bring to light many untold stories and memories about Frida Kahlo’s struggles and victories, which will give her life as an artist more depth.
In a press release, Pedro Quinzanos, co-founder and CEO of Ezel.Life, said, “The Red House is the first of many exciting projects at Ezel.” “Life will bring to digital audiences around the world such immersive experiences as those at UNESCO World Heritage Sites Teotihuacán and Chichén Itzá.”
The other side
There are still problems with the quality of images and avatars in the digital universe. Getting better at interacting in the metaverse is still a hot topic in the industry.

Digital events like the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week, which took place on Decentraland this spring, show how big the problem is. People said that the quality of the digital environments, clothes, and especially the avatars that people interacted with was low at the event.
Why should you care?
People will keep getting more involved in the Metaverse. In the next four years, the metaverse market share is expected to go over $50 billion, which shows that more people will be joining.
