Finance Minister Miftah Ismail strengthens Pakistan-UAE cooperation
The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Miftah Ismail, said the government is focusing on new avenues of mutual interest to advance Pakistan-UAE relations.
According to a finance ministry press release, the minister was meeting with UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi.
He said Pakistan and the UAE have long-standing ties in energy, refining, petroleum, and trade, he said.
The minister told the ambassador about potential UAE investment areas and promised greater support.
He was happy about new investments in Pakistan and told the UAE ambassador that the government would support and work with him in any way possible.
The ambassador wanted to strengthen economic ties between both countries.
On August 2, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail said taxes on electricity bills, property, and sales were being reviewed.
He said this to a delegation of Mardan Chambers of Small Traders and Small Industry (CSTSI) led by Muhammad Fayyaz Khan and President Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajraan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sharafat Ali Mubarak, according to a Ministry of Finance press statement.
Rana Ihsan Afzal, the PM’s commerce and industry coordinator, and other senior officers attended.
The delegation members told the finance minister about Mardan CSTSI’s issues with electricity, property, and sales taxes.
The finance minister was briefed on this sector’s contribution to economic growth. Members urged swift resolution of this sector’s issues.
