Fakhar Zaman has scored more runs in the Pakistan Super League than Babar Azam.

Fakhar Zaman of the Lahore Qalandars established a new record in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday, surpassing Karachi Kings captain Babar Azam for the most runs in a single edition and the most half-centuries in a single edition.

In the tournament so far, Fakhar has scored 584 runs, breaking Babar’s record of 554 runs.

He reached the mark with the 34th run of his 63-ball inning against the Multan Sultans in the first qualifier. On the other hand, the Qalandars lost the game by a score of 28 runs.

Fakhar has also become the first batter to record eight half-centuries in a single competition.

The record for the most half-centuries in a single edition was held by Babar, who had seven.

Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Multans, has scored 532 runs and accumulated seven half-centuries so far, the latest being against Qalandars in the playoffs, when he hit 53 off 51 balls. He is capable of breaking Fakhar’s record.

The winner of the first eliminator will now meet the winner of the second eliminator on February 25.
