Ex-Microsoft and Agoda Product and Engineering Executives Join Binance to Scale Web3
This is a big day for Binance, which is a global blockchain ecosystem that powers the world’s largest ecosystem. Rohit Wad, a former corporate vice president at Microsoft, has been named CTO, and Mayur Kamat, a former vice president of product at Agoda, has been named Head of Product.
Wad will be responsible for developing Web3 services and solutions that are scalable, compliant, and speedy. Additionally, he will be responsible for assuring the exchange’s continuing security, stability, and liquidity while adhering to growing regulatory compliance needs in the locations where the platform is offered. Wad also plans to hire a lot more engineers in order to speed up the company’s growth.
Kamat will be responsible for all aspects of the product strategy, planning, and development at Binance. He will lead the team in developing products that will increase crypto acceptance and lower the entry barrier to Web3 technology. Both Wad and Kamat will work on increasing the accessibility and usability of Web3 services for ordinary people, as well as promoting innovation within the Binance ecosystem.
“My work has been devoted to enhancing daily living through the use of technology,” Kamat explained. “Crypto assets are held by less than 10% of the addressable internet population. Our mission is to make Web3 technology accessible to people by creating products that are simple enough for anyone in the world to use, including those who are new to it. I am humbled to play a little part in enabling billions of people to achieve financial independence and inclusion. “
“We are developing a number of Web3 experiences and solutions that will have a transformative effect on billions of people, beginning with financial freedom,” Wad said. “I am so excited to be able to show the world all of the amazing things that Web3 technology can do.”
Wad brings over 30 years of experience in engineering and development to Binance. Prior to joining Binance and Microsoft, Wad worked at Facebook and Google as an engineering director. Wad played a critical role in the creation of Microsoft Teams and Skype.
Kamat brings to Binance over two decades of experience in technology and product development. Kamat was previously the Vice President of Product at Agoda, where he was responsible for the company’s supply, finance, and marketplace products. He formerly led product teams at Hiya and Google. Kamat was in charge of the team that made Gmail for mobile, Android for Work, Hangouts, Google Voice, and Windows DRM.
