EU lawmakers’ committees agree on tougher draft AI regulations
On Thursday, important EU lawmakers agreed to some amendments in draft rules on artificial intelligence (AI) to regulate generative AI models like ChatGPT.
However, there is a possibility of a clash with EU countries over the proposed ban on facial surveillance. The deal was reached by two European Parliament committees responsible for the issue, and now the draft will be put to a vote in the plenary next month.
After the vote, the lawmakers will work with EU countries and the European Commission to finalize the details of the rules on AI.
