Ericsson gets a 5G deal with Greenland

Only 56,000 people live on the island of Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark but has a lot of freedom.

OSLO Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson (ERICb.ST) has been given a contract to build Greenland’s first 5G network, which will cover three towns at first. This was announced by a local phone company on Friday.

Tusass will bring high-speed wireless Internet to the sparsely populated island without using expensive and hard-to-install cables. The company will use Ericsson equipment and Netgear (NTGR.O) routers to do this.

Next will come 10 more towns, including Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.
