Snoop Dogg and Eminem performed “From The D 2 The LBC” for the first time at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (VMAs). Some fans thought the metaverse performance was great, but others just didn’t understand what was going on.
As previously revealed by BTC PEERS, the rap icons were scheduled to perform as metaverse avatars and Bored Ape NFTs on the VMAs stage. On Sunday night, most of the concert was made up of Bored Apes and animated versions of themselves.

Inspired by Yuga Labs’ forthcoming Otherside metaverse project, Snoop and Eminem opened the show seated on a black leather couch, with Snoop smoking an absurdly oversized joint. Soon after being taken to another planet, the two performers changed into animated versions of themselves. They then changed into Bored Apes and rapped their lines.

The performance was met with mixed responses. While many fans, particularly those in the crypto world, praised the idea, some were disappointed with its execution. Eric Skelton tweeted, “Eminem and Snoop Dogg “performing” as Bored Apes at the VMAs is the most dystopian stuff I can imagine smh.”

Okay, Snoop and Eminem destroyed that Metaverse holographic performance. That was just crap. “I think it looks really insane,” commented a fan. Another fan tweeted, “Eminem and Snoop Dogg just blew up the Metaverse with every other phrase blowing up the censorship button.”

Over a decade has passed since rappers stormed the VMA stage. While Snoop’s 2005 tribute to Notorious B.I.G. generated news, Eminem’s previous appearance was in 2010 when he opened the Video Music Awards with a performance of “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” with Rihanna.
