Credit Suisse’s chair backs CEO Gottstein and says there have been no talks about a replacement.
Zurich (Reuters) – Credit Suisse Chairman Axel Lehmann told CNBC on Monday that he still backs Chief Executive Thomas Gottstein, even though investors are worried about whether or not he is the right person for the job at Switzerland’s second-largest bank.
“I fully support him because he’s good,” Lehmann said, calling talk that Gottstein might be leaving “rumors and speculations.” When asked about a report that there had been talks about replacing him, Lehmann said, “I know that hasn’t happened, so it’s wrong.”
