Will Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari become the next Foreign Minister?

ISLAMABAD: As today’s important National Assembly session draws to a close, everyone is keeping an eye on the possible candidates for the top jobs in a new government.
While the prime minister’s and president’s roles are critical, the issue of who would serve as foreign minister in the next administration is equally critical, since the combined opposition has been relentless in its criticism of the government’s foreign policy.
According to reports, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is likely to be made Minister of Foreign Affairs. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old politician said in an interview with a foreign media that the ministership would be decided by his party.
Bilawal said once again, while criticizing the government, that the PTI has polarised the foreign ministry and the National Security Committee (NSC).
He said that although democracy was harmed under the PTI’s four-year reign, the Supreme Court’s decision is a “first step” in ridding institutions of disputes.
Concerning the agreement reached with MQM-P, he said that the agreement is not based on MQM-demands; rather, the objectives contain “my preferences.”
Meanwhile, Bilawal said that when he was asked about the PPP and the PML-N, both parties had political and ideological differences that “would still be there in the future as well.”
