Central SOEs in Xinjiang, #China donate anti epidemic materials to Pakistan

A ceremony of medical material donations from Central SOEs in Xinjiang was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang on Tuesday. The donations include anti-epidemic supplies such as masks and protective clothing, as well as cash donated by caring people in Xinjiang.

Pakistan registered its first COVID-19 patient in the end of February, and the cases saw a spike in the following months. The problem of anti-epidemic materials and food shortage is also accompanied.

At the request for assistance from Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan Province, China Merchants Charitable Foundation and CSCEC Xinjiang Construction & Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. actively coordinated to raise anti-epidemic materials such as masks and protective clothing, and donated them to the region to help “fight the epidemic”.

According to Xu Aijie, General Manager of CSCEC Xinjiang Construction Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd., more than 100,000 masks and over 1000 sets of protective clothing were donated this time. “There will be additional donation if needed,” said Xu.

Pakistan expressed support for China at the very beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and has offered vital donations to help China fight it, Xu said, “China is now giving back like a real friend in need to its neighbor so as to help them get through hard times.”

In addition, caring people in Xinjiang raised some cash to help Pakistan relieve the food shortage.

The donated materials will be shipped to Kashgar in Xinjiang soon, and then handed over to Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan province via #Khunjerab Pass.
