Chairman Salt Manufacturers, end the practise of using iodized salt.
The chairman of the Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SMAP), Ismail Sattar, has asked the Pakistani government not to tax iodized salt.
According to him, the quad 19 pandemic has already had a negative impact on the salt export sector due to higher freight costs and supply chain interruptions.
He claims that if the government removes the iodized salt exemption, it would have a significant influence on the cost of life for the average person, as salt is one of the most important ingredients in every food item. ۔
According to SMAP’s chairman, salt is not only a necessary nutrient but also has several health advantages.
Iodized salt, in particular, produces hormones that regulate heart rhythm and blood pressure, as well as burns extra fat deposits that can contribute to heart disease, “he explained.
“Previous governments have always advocated the use of iodine in salt, bearing in mind our children’s health, who are already suffering from stunted growth and obesity,” he stated.
He went on to say that imposing a sales tax on such vital commodities was an overreaction.
