Chairman NEPRA angry with electricity distribution companies over costly power generation
The chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has expressed frustration with the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and the National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC) over the costly power generation.
NEPRA Chairman Tauseef Farooqi held a hearing on the request of CPPA and NPCC to increase the price of electricity by Rs 4.33 per unit in the November fuel price adjustment.
The Chairman of NEPRA was informed by the petitioners that the cost of production of electricity has increased due to the high cost of fuel.
The meeting was informed that as per the request of CPPA, the additional burden for November would be Rs. 35.70 billion.
Chairman NEPRA said that you only generate electricity, you do not see that it is an expensive plant, we do 3 year audit of which plant generated how much electricity.
On the occasion, Chairman NEPRA also expressed frustration over CPPA and NPCC over costly power generation.
