Imran Ismail, the governor of Sindh, also resigns.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail resigned on Monday, after the mass resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislators from the national house (NA).

The governor said that he would retire as soon as Shehbaz Sharif takes the oath of office as Prime Minister.

Ismail further said that he had already submitted his resignation to President Arif Alvi.

The governor said that he had packed his belongings and would leave the Governor’s Mansion within two days.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister, and PTI legislators resigned from the National Assembly ahead of Monday’s vote for the leader of the house.

Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was scheduled to fight the election against PTI nominee Shah Mahmood Qureshi. However, PTI members boycotted the session after a statement by their candidate.

The party’s parliamentary meeting was chaired by Imran Khan when the decision to withdraw from the legislature was reached. They want to focus their efforts on getting people to speak out against the new government.
