Bandai Namco invests in Gangbusters’ blockchain social games 

One of Japan’s biggest video game companies, Bandai Namco Entertainment, has said that it will invest in Gangbusters’ blockchain social games.

Bandai Namco is getting involved with blockchain technology.

According to the press release, “Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund,” the company’s fund for investing in startups with the goal of making new entertainment and building Bandai Namco’s IP Metaverse, has agreed to invest over 3 billion yen ($20.4 million) in Gangbusters Ltd over the next three years.

It is said that the investment will be made in three equal parts, with one billion yen ($6.8 million) put in each year.

Bandai Namco said that they want to use blockchain technology to make and run social games so that they can connect better with their fans.

Gangbusters is a studio in the United Kingdom that focuses on making and running blockchain-based social games.

Gangbusters has made and runs one of the most popular games, “BattleTabs,” which is a strategy game where players can battle their friends in a multi-player setting. A Web browser can be used to open and play the game.

Brandon Wu, Michael Cann, and Matthew Romaine started Gangbuster’s Studio in 2019.

Bandai Namco is putting money into more than just the Gamebusters game. Bandai Namco’s entertainment fund has helped fund projects like Gaudiy Inc., Genies Inc., Phoenixx Inc., and Double Jump. SHOWROOOM, INC. and TOKYO, INC.

The fund is run by an investment committee with names like Yasuo Miyakawa, Koji Fujiwara, and Toru Konno. All of these people have worked in the video game industry before.
