After Nord Stream was shut down, Gazprom sent gas to Europe through Ukraine.

Russia’s Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) said it would send 42.7 million cubic metres (mcm) of natural gas to Europe through Ukraine on Saturday. This came just hours after it was said that gas flows through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany would not resume as planned.

Flows through the Sudzha entry point were a little higher than the 41.3 mcm that Gazprom sent on Friday, but not enough to make up for the gas that Nord Stream 1 wasn’t able to pump on Saturday.

Gazprom said late Friday that it had found an oil leak on Nord Stream 1 equipment during maintenance work and would not be able to start the flow again. It didn’t say when the problem would be fixed.

Siemens Energy, which usually takes care of the turbines on Nord Stream 1, said that a leak like this shouldn’t stop the pipeline from running. It also said that the leak was found at the Portovaya compressor station, which has other turbines to keep Nord Stream 1 running.
