A draught policy on solar panel manufacturing is prepared.
A draught policy on solar panel manufacturing has been prepared by the Engineering Development Board.
The Engineering Development Board will submit its policy document on solar panel and allied equipment manufacturing to the government by the end of this month. The Ministry of Industry and Production’s Engineering Development Board (EDB) is working on solar panel manufacturing. Meetings with provincial energy departments, researchers, and other stakeholders are also ongoing on behalf of DB for solar panel manufacturing.
At present, Pakistan is facing a severe energy crisis and high energy costs, which are affecting all sectors. The energy demand of the country is about 29 thousand MW while the production is 22 thousand MW. The focus is on the manufacturing and solarization of solar panels.
At the moment, local sources account for 40% of the total energy generation mix in the country, while imported fuel accounts for 60%. The government, on the other hand, has decided to increase the local share of energy to 90% by 2030.
