Pakistan’s Prime Minister and the OIC’s Secretary-General debate Islamophobia.
Makkah – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha in Makkah.
On Thursday, the prime minister landed in Saudi Arabia for his first overseas trip since assuming office. The three-day visit to the Kingdom is at King Salman’s and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s invitation.
The meeting with the OIC head focused on the state of the Muslim world and OIC agenda items, including Palestine, Afghanistan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Islamophobia.
The two parties emphasised the need of enhancing collaboration among member nations in order to protect the Islamic Ummah’s causes.
In addition, the summit looked into how the OIC and Pakistan could work together, since Pakistan is the current chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
Taha reaffirmed the OIC’s preparedness to assist the Pakistani government in implementing the decisions approved at the Council of Foreign Ministers’ 48th session, which would be held in Islamabad on March 22-23, 2022.
Sharif expressed gratitude to Taha for his assistance and emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its Joint Islamic Action initiative.
