Russia doesn’t let Boris Johnson and other top UK officials into the country.
MOSCOW: After the UK put sanctions on Russia for its military operation in Ukraine, Moscow said on Saturday that it would not let Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other top British officials into the country.
The foreign ministry said in a statement that “this move was made in response to London’s unrestrained information and political campaign that aims to keep Russia isolated from the rest of the world, make it more difficult for us to do business, and choke off our own economy.”
The ministry said that London had taken “unprecedented hostile actions,” especially when it came to sanctions against Russia’s top officials.
“The British government is deliberately making things worse in Ukraine by giving the government in Kyiv lethal weapons and working with NATO to do the same thing,” the ministry said.
Russia has put the UK Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, former Prime Minister Theresa May, and Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on a list of people they don’t like.
It’s been a long time since Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine, but Britain has been part of an international effort to punish Russia with asset freezes, travel bans, and other things.
