The Punjab Assembly session starts with the CM election on the agenda.
LAHORE: All eyes are now on the Punjab Assembly, as a pivotal session started Saturday with the election of a new chief minister on the agenda after Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar’s acceptance of Usman Buzdar’s resignation, according to Radio Pakistan.
Today, aspirants for Punjab’s chief ministerial position will file their candidacy papers. According to rules issued by the PA administration, no visitors will be permitted to meet with members of the provincial assembly.
No member will be able to bring a cell phone into the assembly hall, and all female members will have to give their purses to security.
In addition, the secretariat told all MPAs to show their CNIC and assembly cards on the day of the vote.
Meanwhile, Secretary Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti stressed that only the schedule for the election of the chief minister would be announced today, and the speaker will choose the voting day.
The speaker has the ability to decide whether voting will take place tomorrow or on Monday, Bhatti stated.
During a meeting between the leaders of the PML-N and the Jahangir Khan Tareen group in London, Hamza Shahbaz of the PML-N came out on top.
