Babar Azam, the skipper, reached 36, while Mohammad Rizwan (29) and Iftikhar Ahmed (13) stayed unbeaten.
For Australia, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, and Marnus Labuchagne each grabbed a wicket for Australia, while Azam was run out.
Due to poor light, umpires at Pindi Stadium called off day two after just one over was bowled in Australia’s opening innings.
