LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), declared on Friday evening that the opposition coalition has unanimously resolved to submit a no-confidence motion against the PTI administration, Geo News reported.
Fazl was addressing a news conference after the PDM’s Lahore meeting. He was joined by Shehbaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, PMLN Vice President Maryam Nawaz, and Hamza Shehbaz, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.
Other anti-government coalition members attended the conference via video connection. The leader of the PDM party said that the alliance will try to get the government’s allies to vote against the prime minister in the National Assembly, which is required for a no-confidence vote.
Fazl continued by stating that all opposition parties present at the conference unanimously agreed that this “illegal administration” should be deposed. First, we’ll do our own research, which means we can’t give a specific timetable for this step. The government’s partners should think about the public’s pain before making a decision.
“To be successful in politics, you must have a huge heart,” he said. “Because we are political beings, we will make calculated choices.” In response to a question, the head of the PDM group said that all the “work” for the no-confidence motion would be done before the opposition’s planned long march on Pakistan Day (March 23).
When questioned why the PDM declared its intention to launch a vote of no confidence against the administration without first finishing its “homework,” Fazl said that the opposition should be allowed to prepare first.
“The PDM has announced the motion of no confidence at this point because we intend to proceed with it.” We cannot provide a date without preparations, so please allow us to do our job, “he said.
In response to a query regarding the planned long march, he said that it would take place as planned, while the PDM’s steering committee will devise a strategy for the event. When a reporter asked Fazl what the PDM would do if the government’s affiliated parties refused to cooperate, he said, “In such an event, we would reconvene and attempt to persuade them.”
Sharif, leader of opposition in Pakistan’s parliament, said that they decided to vote against the government because of the hardships people had to go through during its term.
“There are millions of individuals who have been impacted by the present administration’s repressive policies… who turn to the skies for assistance and demonstrate against the government,” he continued.
In response to an inquiry on reported contact between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP officials, Shehbaz said that Fazl’s ties to the PPP predate his. Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry also asked the PDM to move a vote of no confidence tomorrow.
In response to the PDM leaders’ press conference, the minister said that a meeting of the ‘Pakistan Corruption Limited Party‘ was conducted to discuss bringing a resolution of no confidence against the government.

“There are certain political rats in the opposition who believe that by running more on the roof, they can generate more noise and therefore survive,” Fawad remarked. Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that the administration of the PTI is united with all of the other coalition partners.
He told a private television station that the opposition had already failed in the lengthy march and vote of no confidence.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the PPP, praised the PDM’s statement that it would launch a no-confidence vote against the PTI administration, calling it a win for democracy. “The fact that most of the opposition parties have agreed to start a vote of no confidence against the government is a great thing for democracy,” he tweeted on Friday.
Bilawal said that the prime minister has lost the public’s trust and it is past time for him to lose the confidence of Parliament.
