Govt is working to cut down on losses to power lines, reducing theft PM Khan

ISLAMABAD PM Imran Khan: The Premier Secretary (PM) Imran Khan, on Wednesday, said that the government is working to enhance the transmission of power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) besides decreasing losses to lines and reducing theft of power.

Prime Minister, during an informal meeting to discuss concerns pertaining concern PESCO, said Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (PESCO) stated that the government agencies were required to assist the citizens and solve their problems in the first place.

He was the one who had received the notice of complaints made by KP parliamentarians. KP regarding the PESCO.

PM Khan stated that the government also is ensuring the integrity and transparency of the selection process for institutions to ensure that they achieve the results they want to.

In the course of the meeting during the meeting, the premier was informed about the power failure and the system for monitoring it and measures to stop the theft of electricity and the deficiency of human resources in PESCO and the new process for recruitment.

Participants in the meeting were informed that the government had developed an extensive power transmission plan to minimize losses to lines that will also aid in overcoming the problem of power shortage. Additionally, steps to reduce theft of power were being prioritised.

The participants were informed that a transparent hiring process is also in place to fill the gap in personnel. A system of digital technology is being developed to monitor the load-shedding process at each feeder. This could also solve the problem of power outages that are not announced.

The prime minister directed for the resolution of the issue within the specified timeframe, by strengthening coordination between the provincial and federal departments.
