Joe Root is unsure about taking part in the IPL Mega Event.
England Test captain Joe Root has revealed that he is considering participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction in 2022, but only if he feels it would not have an impact on his Test game. The IPL mega auction will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. This season will also include two new teams: Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
“The clock is ticking, but I have a lot to consider.” Will it have an effect on my ability to play Test cricket? If I don’t think so, I’ll put myself up for auction. But I will never do anything that will jeopardise my chances of playing Test cricket for England. “It’s critical for myself and the other players to make that a priority,” Root said, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Mitchell Starc, an Australian speed bowler, indicated on Wednesday that he is thinking about participating in the next super auction.
Starc has featured in 27 IPL matches with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), but has not played in the league in some years.
“I have two days to turn in my papers, so it may be something I do today before training.” I haven’t put my name down yet, but I have a few more days to think about it. “It’s absolutely on the table, regardless of what the calendar has in store,” Starc told cricket.com.au.
“I haven’t gone in around six years.” Obviously, with a recent emphasis on T20s and the World Cup coming up later this year, that’s one to consider as well. “There’s a lot going on with scheduling and whatever for us multi-format guys to wrap our brains around,” he continued.
