Toyota India has issued a warning about a potential data breach involving its customers.

Some customers’ personal information may have been compromised as a result of a data breach at Toyota Motor’s (7203.T) Indian operation, the company said on Sunday.
The data breach at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a joint venture between Toyota India and Indian conglomerate Kirloskar Group, has been reported to the appropriate Indian authorities, according to Toyota India (KIRL.NS).
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) stated in an email statement that it had received notification from one of its service providers of an incident that may have resulted in the online exposure of some of TKM’s customers’ personal information. TKM did not specify the scope of the data breach or the number of customers affected.
About 296,000 customer records may have been exposed due to an unrelated problem at Toyota Motor’s T-Connect service, the automaker reported in October.
