Tesla gives Chinese buyers an extra discount on some models.
A company representative said on Wednesday that Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is giving Chinese buyers a 6,000 yuan ($859.20) discount on some models from Wednesday until the end of 2022.
This is in addition to the 4,000-yuan insurance subsidy that was already announced. However, it only applies to customers who buy a current car model and get it by the end of December.
The discount was first reported by Wall StreetCN, a local news site.

This is the latest time that the U.S. car company has changed its prices in China. Along with the insurance discounts, the company has cut the prices of its Model 3 and Model Y cars by up to 9% in China. This is because its Shanghai plant has a lot of cars in stock, and demand for cars is slowing in China.
With these changes, the Shanghai factory was able to send out 100,291 electric vehicles (EVs) made in China in November, which is 40% more than it sent out in October and the most since it opened in late 2020.
