The XRP Ledger adds another layer of security to XRPL wallets.
The Ripple community built XRP Ledger (XRPL), which is a decentralised public blockchain. It has added an extra layer of security to the wallets of trusted accounts. Yesterday, the XRPL Explorer analysis platform (XRPScan) announced the change and said that the “ExtendedSignerList” change was now live on the mainnet.

Wietse Wind, a developer at XRPL Labs, said in a tweet today that the implementation was live and working with the XummWallet that was integrated with XRPL.
The ExtendedSignerList (ESL) modification increased the number of signers from 8 to 32, which is four times the number previously. This was done to make wallets that depend on a signer list more secure. Notably, the change went into effect after getting more than 80% of the votes.
In the context of the XRPL, a signer list is a list of trusted accounts that can sign transactions on behalf of an account as a whole. If the number of signers is more than the minimum quorum, the transaction is valid.
Wo Jake, an XRPL fan, tweeted before that an expanded signer list with 32 signers would make wallets more decentralised, since the number of signers would be the same as the number of signers. They also said that layer-two projects like EvernodeXRPL and bridges will benefit the most from this change.
Wallets could be more “decentralised” if the number of signers was equal to the number of signers, which would be 32. This change helps projects like @EvernodeXRPL, Federated Sidechains by @RippleXDev, and bridges the most. FIN.

Also, a member of XRPL Labs, not the Ripple blockchain, wrote the code for the change. After the live rollout, node operators will need to update to version 1.9.4, as versions before that will no longer work. Notably, the crypto community welcomed the new achievement with open arms because the new technology didn’t depend on Ripple’s blockchain, which was the parent blockchain.
