Valeo makes a deal with BMW’s electric vehicle platform to provide driving aids.

PARIS (Reuters) – Valeo (EPA:VLOF), a French company that makes car parts, said on Tuesday that it had won a big contract with BMW to put its advanced driving assistance systems in BMW’s new electric vehicle platform.

BMW plans to build its best-selling 3 Series sedan and other models on this platform. It is a key part of the company’s plan to sell half as many electric cars as gas-powered ones by 2030.

Valeo said it would make the ADAS domain controller, sensors, and parking and manoeuvring software for BMW’s “Neue Klasse” platform generation, which is set to come out in 2025.

Valeo also said that the system that Valeo, BMW, and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) are working on will be able to map and understand both the outside and inside of the car in real time.
