Pakistan records first coronavirus death
Pakistan on Wednesday recorded its first coronavirus death in Gilgit Baltistan, a spokesman said.
Speaking to Geo News Faizullah Faraq said: “The man was 90 years old and was a resident of the Chilas district.
“The deceased was admitted to CMH from four days ago,” he said.
The person had no travel history, a provincial spokesman said.
“There is an alarming trend in this province as it has emerged that 10 new cases make it up to 13,” he continued.
The total number of COVID-19 cases nationwide increased to over 250, most of them in Sindh.
Globally, 164 countries have been affected, over 8,200 people have died and over 200,000 have contracted the disease as it spreads rapidly to new areas.
Since the virus first appeared in late December, 8,011 people have died worldwide, in more than 199,470 cases according to the AFP based on official sources at 1100 GMT.
The countries most affected are Great China, with 3,237 deaths, of which 80,894 incidents, 69,601 of which have been treated.
