Yuga Labs starts the BAYC Council, Animoca backs Cool Cats, and more cool news…

Yuga Labs has announced the creation of a community council for the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) to help the project “grow and thrive.”

In a blog post on Oct. 5, the team introduced seven council members and said that they are all OGs who have been with the BAYC since the beginning.

Yuga Labs said it put together a new community council made up of “Apes who have been active and helpful to the club since the beginning and have a track record to prove it.”

Beijingdou, SeraStargirl, TheMiamiApe, OxEthanDG, OxWave, Negithenagi, and PeterJFang are all members.

“This council was made so that it could speak for the whole club and give people a chance to share new ideas,” Yuga Labs wrote.

Yuga Labs said they will work with the community and get feedback for the company. They will also work with Yuga on community-driven projects like business projects, meetups, and charity work.

“From the very beginning, every ape in our community has had a direct effect on how we make decisions. This council, along with future councils, gives Yuga leaders a more formal, efficient, and consistent way to get feedback and advice from the community on a regular basis,” it said.

Yuga Labs also hinted that it might soon start community councils for CryptoPunks, Meebits, and The Otherside, which are also NFT projects.

Today, Yuga Labs is happy to welcome the first BAYC Community Council. This group will help us decide how the Bored Ape Yacht Club will develop in the future. Visit our official blog at https://t.co/MSD3M1QkfE for more information about the council.

Animoca Brands is a partner of Cool Cats. The NFT venture fund giant Animoca Brands has made a strategic investment in the blue-chip NFT project Cool Cats to help the project grow into new areas like gaming.

The two companies said in a press release on Oct. 5 that the partnership will help Cool Cats reach its goal of becoming the largest global NFT brand and a strong media and content company. One way it will do this is by expanding the games it offers.

Cool Cats came out in July 2021, and it has 9,999 avatars of cartoon cats. According to data from CryptoSlam, $369.2 million worth of NFTs have been sold as part of the project so far. Along with the latest announcement, sales of Cool Cats have gone up 220% in the last 24 hours.

This move comes after a partnership with Animoca subsidiary GAMEE, which started on September 1. GAMEE is a virtual platform that connects creators, brands, and players in the GameFi space.

In September, the number of Solana NFTs sold jumped past $100 million. In September, the number of NFTs sold on the Solana blockchain was $130.11 million, which was an increase of 82.2% from August’s $71.4 million.

Even though the number still puts Solana behind Ethereum, which sold NFTs worth $354.3 million last month, the difference in the number of unique buyers between the two is much smaller.

According to data from CryptoSlam, there were 143,997 unique buyers of Solana NFTs in September, which is up from 95,516 in August. Ethereum, on the other hand, only had 166,168 buyers that month, which is down from 202,467.

Even though the numbers may show that Solana is making up a lot of ground on Ethereum, Ethereum is still the home of most of the big-name NFT projects.

If you look at sales data from the last 30 days, only one Solana NFT project makes it into the top 10: Y00TS mint t00B, with $13.3 million worth of sales. In contrast, eight projects based on Ethereum were in the top 10 during that time.

Gary Vaynerchuck’s NFT project, VeeFriends, has made a deal with Macy’s and Toys “R” Us to sell plush and figure collectibles with characters from VeeFriends.

The collectibles will be sold in stores starting on October 17 for between $9.99 and $29.99. Common Sense Cow, Willful Wizard, Practical Peacock, Gratitude Gorilla, Genuine Giraffe, and Be the Bigger Person are some of the characters.

Hodlers who own the NFT versions of the characters will get the physical collectibles that go with them. Season one NFT holders will get the more expensive plush toys and six-inch figures.

The hodlers, on the other hand, won’t get anything from the sales of the physical toys.

In other cool news, Horizon Blockchain Games, the company that made the popular NFT card game Skyweaver, announced on Oct. 4 that it had raised $40 million in Series A funding. Brevan Howard Digital and Morgan Creek Digital led the round. Polygon, Take-Two Interactive, and Ubisoft, just to name a few, also took part.

In a series of tweets on Oct. 5, the NFT marketplace OpenSea announced that users will soon be able to list and buy up to 30 digital collectibles in a single flow.
