Will Shahid Afridi not play in the PSL in 2022?

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi requested a release from the Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday, only one day before the start of the Pakistan Super League, citing medical and personal reasons.

The flamboyant batter has reportedly asked the Quetta Gladiators to exempt him from the bio-secure bubble.

According to people close to the situation, Afridi has informed management that he is suffering from back discomfort and that his sister-in-law has died.

For these reasons, “Shahid Afridi’s children are alone at home […] and for these reasons, he wants to exit the bio-secure cocoon,” the sources claimed.

The much-anticipated event is due to begin tomorrow at Karachi’s National Stadium — and it is regrettable that the player, who has played several matches in the city, may not get to play his last match.
